Bernth is known worldwide for his unique mix of modern shred, cinematic soundscapes, and razor-sharp precision. But for years, no single guitar could keep up with every demand of his playing.
Some necks warped in tough touring conditions. Some locking systems slowed him down with endless string changes. Some pickups worked for math-rock clarity but failed in metal contexts, while others nailed heavy rhythm tones but fell short for expressive clean work.

The AZ Oval C roasted maple neck isn’t just a spec on paper — it’s the same neck construction Bernth relied on to survive brutal touring conditions, from freezing trailers to scorching hot flights, all while staying perfectly in tune. The roasting process stabilizes the wood against humidity, giving players unmatched reliability.
The Oval C profile offers the ideal balance between speed and comfort. After years of playing thin shred-style necks, Bernth discovered that a slightly fuller shape provides the finger support needed for clean legato, sweeping, and advanced technical runs. The alder body provides a balanced tonal foundation, while the ebony fretboard delivers the smooth, fast surface players demand for technical precision.
Standout detail: the reverse sharktooth inlays. Rarely seen on modern Ibanez models, these bold markers provide excellent visual guidance while adding a striking contrast against the sleek black finish.
